Este ha sido1 un año difícil para la familia Alarcón. El hotel tiene algunas dificultades financieras, aunque2 nadie lo sabe realmente. Doña Teresa, la madre de Alicia, se lo ha ocultado desde la muerte del esposo.Diego Murquía, el gerente del hotel conoce esta situación. La usa para su ventaja3. Él convence a doña Teresa para que le prometa4 la mano de su hija5 Alicia en matrimonio. Esto ayudará a mantener el hotel funcionando sin problemas.

Sin embargo1 = nevertheless; se siente2 = she feels (3rd person sl. of sentirse, to feel. It is a reflexive verb); conoce4 =3rd person sl. of conocer, to know, to be acquainted.
